Estimator – Construction
Salary: £55,000 – £70,000 (depending on experience)
Location: Swansea (with occasional travel across South Wales)
A well-established and growing construction company in South Wales is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its dynamic Pre-development Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled professional to contribute to a variety of high-quality residential and commercial projects across the region.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a wide range of construction projects. This includes analysing project documents such as drawings, plans, and specifications to assess the cost of labour, materials, and equipment. You’ll play a key role in supporting pre-construction planning and ensuring projects are financially viable from the outset.
Review project documentation to determine the scope of work, resource requirements, and cost factors
Conduct site visits as needed to assess project conditions and gather relevant data
Prepare detailed bills of quantities and cost estimates for labour, materials, plant, and subcontractor services
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather essential project information
Maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate and competitive pricing
Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and attend pre-bid meetings
Keep accurate records of all estimates, proposals, and relevant project documentation
Carry out other duties relevant to the position as required
Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry best practices
Excellent numerical and analytical skills
High attention to detail and strong communication abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience using estimating software (e.g. Evaluate or similar)
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
A degree in a construction-related field is desirable but not essential
