Job Title: Junior Estimator / Quantity Surveyor
Strong Group are currently working with a financially-stable and steadily growing civil engineering / facilities management specialist in Hertfordshire.
They are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Junior Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join our team on a permanent basis.
The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in the construction industry, focusing on strip-out, fit-out, and facilities management projects.
You will assist in cost estimation, budgeting, and contract administration while supporting the project team in delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions. This role offers excellent learning and growth opportunities, with exposure to various aspects of quantity surveying and estimating.
Cost Estimation & Analysis: Assist in preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for strip-out, fit-out, and facilities management projects, ensuring all aspects of labour, materials, and overheads are considered.
Quantity Take-offs: Conduct detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications, ensuring all measurements and quantities are correct for cost estimates and tender submissions.
Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain and analyse quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring that they meet project requirements and budgets. Assist in the negotiation of terms to secure competitive pricing.
Budget Management: Assist in preparing project budgets, monitoring actual costs against estimates, and reporting any discrepancies to the senior management team.
Valuations & Payment Applications: Support in preparing interim valuations and final accounts, ensuring all works are measured and certified in line with contractual requirements.
Contract Administration: Assist with contract preparation, management, and review, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual obligations.
Risk Management: Identify potential cost risks and opportunities, ensuring they are factored into estimates and budget forecasts.
Cost Reporting: Maintain detailed records of project costs, providing regular updates and reports to senior staff and project teams.
Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, site teams, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on cost, timeframes, and project scope.
Compliance & Standards: Ensure all work adheres to industry standards and regulations, particularly regarding health and safety.
Salary has been quoted as £35,000 DOE
