Strong Group are acting on behalf of their client who are currently looking to recruit an experienced Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager / Technical Services Manager / Contract Manager plays a key part within the team, as you’ll be responsible for ensuring that buildings are mobilised and maintained, ensuring that all M&E aspects of a building are performing effectively, efficiently and are fully compliant. You will be commercially and operationally responsible for the successful delivery of the technical service elements of the contracts.

The role will be to provide a range of technical services to the clients and site-based teams. The key tasks will include compliance, internal auditing, dilapidation management, asset maintenance, life cycling, identification, and development of Hard FM delivery.

This is a fast-paced role and therefore requires an individual with experience of working within a similar role displaying strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently.


  • Undertake the role of Engineering Manager operating as the main point of contact for clients, developing working relationships and to understand their business needs and requirements.
  • Liaising with key subcontractors and other construction professionals. Bringing on new sub-contractors to manage and monitor labour costs to ensure transparency and accuracy is achieved.
  • Monitor the installation of services and manage their maintenance once the building or project is completed.
  • Ensuring all planned and reactive maintenance is carried out at the highest possible standard.
  • Survey and quote remedial and new works.
  • Implementation of new systems, processes and procedures for better operational purposes.
  • Deliver training for the engineering vertical and ensure visibility and understanding of policies, processes and procedures.
  • Work cohesively with other departmental managers when required to share knowledge and push the business forward.
  • Carry out internal audits and manage site PPMs and logbooks.
  • Attend, and chair where appropriate, meetings with the client, the designers, specialist contractors and other team members.
  • In collaboration with the Operations Manager, further, develop a succession plan for reporting within your team.
  • Provide management information and produce business compliance reports on time and as required.
  • Oversee all engineering expenditure and budgeting and ensure the project value and material/labour costs in accordance with internal procedures.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Proven experience in property/building services management (Min 5 years).
  • Extensive knowledge of statutory regulations, technical standards and provide guidance for the delivery of asset management activities.
  • A background in Operations (experience of the commercial real estate sector is beneficial). Qualified to a recognised Building Services discipline. Apprenticeship/City and Guilds or Degree level/HND in an engineering discipline.
  • Relevant professional, technical and/or management qualifications.
  • Due to the nature of work, the candidate must be willing to support out of hours work on an ad hoc basis.
  • Technical proficiency such as exemplary understanding of plant machinery, mechanical and electrical installation.
  • Must have a strong background in Hard FM and have experience of working for a service provider.
