Company Overview:

Our client is a respected and growing M&E contractor delivering complex building services packages across the East of England. With projects ranging from state-of-the-art hospitals to educational facilities and commercial developments, they pride themselves on quality delivery and long-term client relationships. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an M&E Quantity Surveyor to join their Cambridge office.


Role Overview:

This role is ideal for an ambitious M&E Quantity Surveyor looking to progress their career under the guidance of a Senior QS. You will be involved in the full commercial lifecycle across a range of projects up to £10 million, with a strong focus on mechanical services (including ventilation, air conditioning, heating, and plumbing) and electrical systems (including lighting, power distribution, and life safety systems).


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage cost planning and control across both mechanical and electrical work packages

  • Prepare, review, and negotiate subcontractor packages including labour and materials

  • Support with valuations, variations, and final accounts

  • Collaborate with the Senior QS to ensure accurate monthly reporting and CVRs

  • Contribute to tender submissions and procurement planning

  • Ensure change management procedures are followed on live projects

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with site teams, suppliers, and clients

  • Ensure compliance with contractual and commercial frameworks (NEC/JCT)


Requirements:

  • Experience in an M&E Quantity Surveying role (contractor-side preferred)

  • Strong understanding of mechanical services (HVAC, plumbing, heating) and electrical systems

  • Familiarity with NEC or JCT forms of contract

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • Proactive, organised, and commercially aware

  • Full UK driving licence
