Structural Engineer

Location: Leeds (Hybrid)

We are partnered with a leading manufacturer of structural building components, specializing in innovative and high-performance solutions for the construction industry. Their products are used in a wide range of sectors, from residential and commercial developments to large-scale infrastructure projects. As they continue to grow, we are looking for a talented and motivated Structural Engineer to join their team and play a crucial role in the design, development, and optimization of our structural systems.

Role Overview

As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing structural components, ensuring their safety, durability, and compliance with building regulations. You will collaborate with the design, manufacturing, and project management teams to deliver efficient and cost-effective structural solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects and contribute to the development of cutting-edge building technologies.

Main Duties / Key Responsibilities (5 – 8 Key accountabilities, detailing what the job holder has to undertake)

  • Manage and develop technical calculation suite to ensure it meets current standards and fits the needs of the
  • technical department.
  • Improve functionality of suite to enable calculation of new products or extended ranges of products.
  • Provide engineering assistance to the technical department via the team leads for situations above and beyond the
  • standard calculation limits.
  • Complete calculations (hand or FEA) for bespoke site scenarios, ensuring that solution is designed to necessary
  • standards. Also considering manufacturing methodology and customer requirements to ensure that product is value
  • engineered, easy to manufacture, and easy to fit on site.
  • Where required, provide engineering assistance to external customers to alleviate any site issues or to support in bespoke
  • scenarios.
  • Training other members of the structural engineering team

Key Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Experience required – essential and desirable)

  • A understanding of the Design Review Process
  • A understanding of the Manufacturing Process
  • A understanding of the Scheduling Software.
  • Outlook, word, PowerPoint, Excel – high Proficiency
  • Good client facing skills.
  • Task and time management skills
  • Root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Customer service – telephone, teams, customer expectations. CAD/Inventor Strong communication skills Technical process understanding and thorough checking Thorough and transparent. Ability to train Graduate Structural engineers
