Our client is a long-established electrical contractor with over 35 years’ experience delivering electrical solutions across a wide range of sectors, including industrial, healthcare, commercial, and residential projects.
The business has a strong reputation for quality, technical excellence, and large-scale project delivery, with a well-established presence across Scotland and projects delivered further afield across the UK.
Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Estimating Manager to strengthen their pre-construction function.
Based from either the Edinburgh or Glasgow office, this role will see you take responsibility for managing and overseeing the electrical estimating function, leading a small but experienced pre-construction team.
You will be responsible for the preparation and sign-off of accurate and competitive electrical tenders, ensuring all estimates are commercially sound, technically compliant, and aligned with client requirements.
The estimating / pre-construction team currently consists of 3 other estimators, and this role will act as the senior point of contact for estimating activities, internal reviews, and handover to delivery teams.
Manage and oversee the electrical estimating process from tender issue through to submission
Lead, mentor, and support a team of 3 estimators within the pre-construction function
Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and schedules
Identify technical and commercial risks, opportunities, and discrepancies within tenders
Ensure all estimates are accurate, competitive, and fully compliant with client requirements
Chair and contribute to internal estimating and pre-construction meetings
Maintain detailed estimating records and audit trails
Support project handover by liaising closely with Contracts Managers post-award
Maintain strong client relationships throughout the tendering and pre-construction stages
Core electrical qualifications (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds)
Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator, Senior Estimator, or Estimating Manager within the electrical contracting or building services sector
Strong understanding of electrical systems, specifications, and building services projects
Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail
Confident communicator with strong client-facing ability
Ability to lead and collaborate effectively within estimating and delivery teams
HNC / HND in Electrical or Building Services Engineering
Experience using Trimble Estimation software or similar estimating platforms
Experience overseeing or mentoring junior / intermediate estimators
Salary up to £65,000
