Strong Group are working on behalf of it’s client who are looking for 1 x Fire Damper Engineer needed in London

You will be responsible for inspection, testing, maintenance, and remedial works on fire and smoke dampers across commercial, retail, hospitality, public sector, and multi-site estates

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out fire and smoke damper inspections to BS 9999 and HTM standards
  • Perform drop tests and reset mechanisms
  • Verify operational effectiveness and record results with photographic evidence
  • Complete digital reporting, job sheets, and compliance documentation
  • Identify defects, failures, and non-compliance issues
  • Carry out minor remedial works including lubrication, cleaning, obstruction removal, and component replacement
  • Support quoting process by identifying remedials and materials required
  • Work in accordance with RAMS, site rules, permits to work, and lone-working procedures
  • Assess access conditions including risers, ceiling voids, plant rooms, and high-risk areas

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Fire Damper Engineer or HVAC/Fire Safety Engineer
  • Strong understanding of fire damper operation and compliance standards
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and access routes
  • Confident working independently on routine testing and inspection tasks
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills for reporting and client interaction
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Qualifications & Accreditations:

  • Fire damper inspection qualification (BESA / FDIS / equivalent)
  • Experience on commercial kitchens, retail, hospitality, healthcare, MOD or multi-site contracts
  • Lifting & handling certification
  • CSCS, IPAF, PASMA, or equivalent H&S certifications

  • Customer-focused with a solutions-driven mindset
  • Able to travel and work early/late when required

Working Conditions:

  • Site-based role across multiple locations
  • Early starts and occasional late finishes based on access requirements
  • Lone working permitted subject to risk assessment
  • Company-provided PPE, tools, and digital reporting equipment

Salary: £35-39k based on experience & qualifications
