Job Title: Head of Pre-Construction (Façades)

Location: London (Hybrid – 2-3 days office/site, remainder remote)
Salary: £80,000 – £100,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role

We are looking for an accomplished Head of Pre-Construction with a strong background in the façade and building envelope sector to lead our pre-construction function. This is a senior strategic role, responsible for overseeing all pre-construction activities – from tender strategy and design management to cost planning and client liaison – ensuring the smooth transition from concept to construction.

You will lead a team of estimators, design managers, and bid coordinators to deliver technically sound, commercially competitive, and compliant proposals for high-value façade projects across London and the UK.

This is a hybrid position, combining office-based collaboration, remote flexibility, and site engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all pre-construction and tendering activities across multiple façade projects.

• Develop and implement bid strategies, ensuring proposals meet client requirements and deliver competitive value.

• Oversee design coordination during the pre-construction phase, working closely with design teams, engineers, and suppliers.

• Provide strategic input on procurement, value engineering, and technical solutions.

• Work collaboratively with clients, architects, and main contractors to ensure clarity of scope and alignment of expectations.

• Review and approve cost plans, estimates, and tender submissions prepared by the estimating team.

• Manage pre-construction programmes, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.

• Support business development by identifying new opportunities and building strong industry relationships.

• Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development to the pre-construction and estimating teams.

• Liaise with the commercial and operations teams to ensure smooth handover from tender to delivery.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in the façade, cladding, or curtain walling sector, with at least 5 years in a senior pre-construction or estimating leadership role.

• Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale façade tenders (£1M-£20M+).

• Strong understanding of design, technical detailing, materials, and installation methodologies for façades and building envelopes.

• Comprehensive knowledge of procurement routes, tender processes, and contract forms (JCT/NEC).

• Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills.

• Commercially astute with exceptional attention to detail and strategic thinking.

• Degree qualified in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
