The Company

Strong Group is recruiting on behalf of a well-established electrical contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality commercial electrical projects across London and the South East.

Due to continued growth, our client is looking to appoint a Junior / Assistant Electrical Estimator to join their expanding pre-construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least one year’s estimating experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and experienced environment.

The Role

Working alongside Senior Electrical Estimators and Directors, you’ll assist in preparing competitive tenders for a variety of commercial electrical projects across London and the South East.

You’ll play a key role in the tendering process, producing accurate take-offs, obtaining supplier quotations and supporting the preparation of competitive bids from enquiry through to submission.

This position offers genuine long-term career progression with ongoing mentoring and the opportunity to work on a wide range of commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate electrical take-offs from drawings and specifications.
• Measure and quantify electrical materials including containment, cabling, lighting, power and switchgear.
• Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Assist in preparing competitive tender submissions.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Identify project risks, exclusions and value engineering opportunities.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and internal project teams.
• Support the successful handover of awarded projects to the delivery team.
• Assist with project variations and cost calculations where required.
• Maintain accurate tender records and pricing information.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum of 1 year’s experience as an Electrical Estimator or Assistant Electrical Estimator.
• Experience working alongside other estimators within an established estimating department.
• A good understanding of commercial electrical installations.
• Experience carrying out electrical take-offs and assisting with tender submissions.
• The ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
• Experience using estimating software such as Bluebeam, ConEst, Accubid, Trimble, McCormick or similar.
• Good Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong numerical ability with excellent attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and the confidence to liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and colleagues.
• A positive attitude and a genuine desire to build a long-term career in electrical estimating.
