Job Specification: Mechanical & Electrical Quantity Surveyor

Location: Central London
Salary: Up to £90,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent


Overview
Our client, a leading provider of specialist building systems, is seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Quantity Surveyor with a strong mechanical bias to join their team on a significant, site-based Central London project. The successful candidate will play a key role in the full commercial management of this project, valued between £300k and £20m, delivering financial targets while maintaining quality and compliance.


Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as an M&E Quantity Surveyor with a mechanical focus

  • Strong and thorough knowledge of NEC contracts is essential

  • Experience with Building Energy Management Systems (BMS) is advantageous

  • Ability to manage complex projects in the £300k to £20m range

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and commercial skills

  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities

  • Proficient in cost management and estimation software

  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to site


Responsibilities

  • Prepare, manage, and control cost estimates, budgets, and valuations for M&E works with mechanical emphasis

  • Lead contract negotiations ensuring compliance with NEC and JCT forms, with particular focus on NEC contracts

  • Conduct value engineering and cost analysis to maximize project profitability

  • Oversee subcontractor and supplier accounts, payments, variations, and final accounts

  • Produce interim valuations and final accounts, monitoring project cash flow for timely billing

  • Liaise closely with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to provide regular financial updates

  • Provide contractual advice and support dispute resolution

  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the commercial team’s success
