Job Title: Mechanical Estimator

Location: West Midlands

Salary: Up to £55,000

Client Overview: Our client is seeking a proficient Mechanical Estimator to join their dynamic team. The role focuses on projects involving mechanical pipework, ventilation, and air conditioning, with project values ranging from £10k to £4m. This opportunity is ideal for candidates interested in working on diverse projects across various sectors including universities, schools, hospitals, and public buildings.

Team Composition: The client’s on-site team includes Pipe-fitters, Plumbers, Welders, Gas Engineers, Air Conditioning Engineers, and Electricians, all holding or pursuing industry-recognized qualifications. Additional subcontract labor is engaged as necessary, with site leadership roles filled by the client’s employees.

Project Scope:

• Boiler/boiler room refurbishments, installations, service, and maintenance

• Heating installations

• Ventilation and Air Conditioning installations and service

• Hot & Cold Water Services

• Controls and Electrical installations

• Security systems and Fire Alarm system installations

Responsibilities:

• Prepare cost estimates for mechanical pipework, ventilation, and air conditioning projects.

• Analyze blueprints and documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.

• Assess cost-effectiveness and improvement opportunities.

• Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the best prices and terms.

• Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors for a seamless estimating process.

• Keep abreast of industry trends and regulations.

Key Duties:

• Ensure estimates are accurate, competitively priced, and comply with standards and regulations.

• Prepare detailed reports and submissions for stakeholders.

• Support project managers and team members to ensure financial and regulatory alignment.

• Participate in project review meetings, offering estimation insights.

Requirements:

• Experience in mechanical estimating with a focus on mechanical pipework, ventilation, and air conditioning.

• Knowledge of construction processes and mechanical systems.

• Skilled in negotiation and proficient with estimating software.

• Ability to interpret technical documents and financial reports.

• Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

Work Environment:

• Based in the West Midlands.
