Job Title: Mechanical Estimator
Location: Office-Based Middlesex
Salary: £60,000 + Company Car or Car Allowance
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (1-hour lunch)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Overview:
We’re looking for a skilled Mechanical Estimator to join a busy and growing projects team within a well-established M&E contractor. You’ll be responsible for producing accurate cost estimates and tender packages for mechanical works ranging from £50,000 to £5 million, working across commercial, public sector, and domestic projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret M&E drawings and specifications to compile full and accurate take-offs

• Create cost breakdowns covering materials, labour, equipment, and logistics

• Prepare tender documents and obtain competitive supplier and subcontractor quotations

• Present proposals and clarify client requirements during the bid process

• Produce detailed cost estimates, risk analysis, and value engineering options

• Maintain accurate records and cost tracking throughout project lifecycle

• Support bid writing with site-specific technical input

• Engage in site visits to fully understand project scope and delivery requirements

• Assist with the preparation of programmes of works and logistic plans for tenders

What We’re Looking For:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical estimating

• Strong mechanical building services knowledge (electrical understanding beneficial)

• Experienced with Ensign or similar estimating software

• Skilled in financial analysis and cost control

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines

• Confident communicator with good negotiation and presentation skills

• Able to manage multiple tenders simultaneously

• Methodical, analytical, and commercially astute

• Familiar with Microsoft Excel, Project, and industry-specific software

Qualifications:

• Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or similar

• Full UK Driving Licence required
