The opportunity

Strong Recruitment Group is recruiting an experienced Mechanical Estimator on behalf of our client in Kent, delivering high-rise residential projects valued between £5m and £30m.

You’ll prepare detailed mechanical and plumbing estimates, working closely with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and the electrical estimating team to deliver accurate, competitive tenders.

Your responsibilities

• Prepare detailed mechanical and plumbing estimates across multiple tenders.

• Review specifications, schematics and drawings to establish scope and identify tender requirements.

• Complete accurate take-offs and cost estimates using current material and labour rates.

• Meet with clients, suppliers and subcontractors to clarify requirements and assess quotations.

• Negotiate supplier and subcontractor pricing and terms.

• Assist with labour histograms, draft programmes, cash flow forecasts, material schedules and procurement schedules.

• Work alongside the electrical estimating team on combined M&E bids.

• Support the Contracts Manager, commercial team and supervisors with ongoing projects.

What we’re looking for

• Strong mechanical estimating experience within high-rise residential and Design & Build projects.

• A thorough understanding of mechanical and plumbing drawings, specifications and installation requirements.

• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.

• The ability to manage several tenders while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

• A proactive, organised approach with strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Experience with Quickscale or Extreme Estimating would be advantageous.

• Availability to work from the Kent office five days per week.
