Salary: Up to £75,000, depending on experience
Working Hours: 9 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday
Hybrid: WFH (1/2 days in the office per week)

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Estimator with strong experience in ductwork, HVAC and air-side packages. You will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, tender documentation and budget monitoring for complex mechanical ventilation projects. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, ensure commercial control and help drive value engineering initiatives from early stages of design through to installation.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed cost estimates for ductwork and ventilation / air-side projects (commercial and high-profile fit-outs)

• Analyse drawings, specifications and tender documents to identify scope, risks, and commercial opportunities

• Prepare tender submissions and pricing schedules, liaising with subcontractors and suppliers

• Monitor project budget and cost performance throughout the lifecycle, flagging variances and recommending corrective action

• Interface with design, procurement and project management teams to ensure alignment and early coordination

• Drive value engineering ideas, cost savings and best practice methods without compromising quality

• Maintain and update cost databases, and build historic cost intelligence for future estimating

• Support contract negotiations, variations and claims as required

Experience & Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Estimator (or Senior Estimator) in the mechanical / ductwork / HVAC / air-side sector

• Deep understanding of ductwork systems, ventilation, air-side installations and associated cost drivers

• Strong commercial acumen, good numerical/analytical skills and attention to detail

• Experience reviewing drawings and specifications, compiling bills of quantities or pricing schedules

• Ability to liaise with engineers, project managers and subcontractors effectively

• Familiarity with estimating software / cost tools and Microsoft Excel

• Excellent communication (written/verbal) skills and able to work to tight deadlines

• Ideally with a construction-related qualification (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Quantity Surveying) though this is not essential for the right person
