Also known as Ringway Airport, Manchester Airport opened on the 25th of June 1938. It is an international airport at Ringway, Greater Manchester, England, 7.5 nautical miles (13.9 km; 8.6 mi) south-west of Manchester city centre.

The airport is owned and managed by the Manchester Airport Group (MAG). It was the third busiest with passenger numbers in 2016 in the whole of the United Kingdom, the other top busiest airports were both in London.

The Manchester airport comprehends three passenger terminals and a goods terminal and covers an area of 560 hectares (1,400 acres). This airport is one of the only airports in the UK to operate two runways over 3,280 (2,999 m) in length, other than Heathrow Airport. It also has flights to 199 destinations, this places the airport to be the thirteenth globally for total destinations distributed.

In Spring 2019 they would have opened the first phase of this £1 billion expansion refurbishment of terminal 2 and will be completed in 2024. They planned to double the size of this passenger terminal due to the outstanding visits in 2017 when the airport handled a record 27.8 million passengers.
