Estimator – Design & Build and Commercial Fit-Out

Luton | £70,000-£90,000 | Permanent | Office-Based

An established and growing construction contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to support its expanding Design & Build and commercial fit-out operation.

The business delivers nationwide projects across commercial offices, retail, flexible workspace, co-warehouse, distribution and industrial environments. Typical projects have values of up to approximately £5 million.

Working closely with the Directors and Contracts Managers, you will manage tenders from initial design and commercial review through to submission, negotiation and handover.

Responsibilities

• Review employer’s requirements, drawings, specifications and tender information.
• Produce cost plans, take-offs, bills of quantities and detailed tender pricing.
• Identify design gaps, commercial risk and buildability issues.
• Prepare and manage subcontractor tender enquiries.
• Analyse and negotiate subcontractor tender returns.
• Price Design & Build and commercial fit-out packages.
• Develop value-engineering proposals.
• Prepare clarifications, qualifications and tender documentation.
• Attend client negotiations and tender meetings.
• Complete detailed handovers to the delivery team.

Requirements

• Strong Design & Build or commercial fit-out estimating experience.
• Principal contractor, main contractor or specialist fit-out background.
• Experience pricing projects up to approximately £5 million.
• Good understanding of architectural, structural and MEP information.
• Strong supply-chain and tender-analysis experience.
• Ability to price from incomplete or developing designs.
• Commercially aware and capable of working independently.
• Able to work from the company’s Luton office.
