Location: Haydock, with travel across the North West
Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 + £6,500 Car Allowance
Employment Type: Permanent

Role Overview

An established fit-out and refurbishment contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager, or a strong Project Manager ready to take the next step into Contracts Management.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of multiple design-and-build fit-out and refurbishment projects across the North West, typically ranging in value from approximately £100,000 to £5 million.

This is a varied role combining office-based project management with regular site involvement. You will take responsibility for projects from pre-construction and planning through to delivery and completion, ensuring each scheme is completed safely, on programme and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects simultaneously.
  • Take responsibility for projects valued from approximately £100k through to £5m.
  • Oversee projects from initial planning and pre-construction through to completion and handover.
  • Manage design-and-build projects and coordinate design information throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain project programmes, budgets and delivery schedules.
  • Monitor project progress, costs and commercial performance.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Attend site meetings and provide regular project updates.
  • Identify potential project risks and resolve issues before they impact programme or budget.
  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with agreed specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety across all projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Construction, Design and Management Regulations and safe working practices.

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience within commercial interior fit-out and refurbishment.
  • Previous experience as a Contracts Manager, Project Manager or similar.
  • Applications welcomed from experienced Project Managers looking to progress into a Contracts Manager position.
  • Strong design-and-build project experience.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience delivering projects on time and within agreed budgets.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project cost control.
  • Excellent client-facing and subcontractor management skills.
  • Strong written, analytical and organisational skills.
  • Experience using project management software.
  • Detailed knowledge of safe working practices and CDM Regulations.
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills.
  • The ability to remain organised and effective during busy project periods.
  • A self-motivated, ambitious and proactive approach.

The Role Would Suit

This opportunity would suit an established Contracts Manager from a commercial fit-out background, or an experienced Project Manager who has successfully delivered their own projects and is ready to progress into a wider Contracts Management position.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing several projects at different stages, working closely with clients and subcontractors, and splitting their time between the Haydock office and sites throughout the North West.

Package

  • £60,000 – £70,000 basic salary
  • £6,500 car allowance
  • Permanent position
  • Haydock-based office
  • Projects throughout the North West
  • Opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to progress into Contracts Management
