Salary: £70,000 – £90,000 + Package

Role Summary

Strong Group are recruiting for an experienced Estimator with a solid background in groundworks and/or demolition projects. This is a key commercial role responsible for preparing accurate, competitive tenders across a range of civils, enabling and demolition schemes.

The position is based in Ipswich and offers genuine long-term progression within a growing and well-established contractor.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for groundworks and demolition projects

• Analyse drawings, specifications and tender documentation

• Produce accurate take-offs and BOQs

• Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations

• Identify value engineering opportunities

• Assess risk and commercial viability of tenders

• Liaise with operational and commercial teams during bid stages

• Support handover to project delivery teams upon award

• Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits where required

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Estimator within groundworks or demolition

• Strong understanding of civil engineering packages, enabling works and site preparation

• Experience pricing earthworks, drainage, foundations, demolition packages, bulk excavation etc.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

• Strong commercial awareness

• Experience using estimating software (e.g. Conquest, Causeway, Excel-based systems)

• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills

Qualifications

• Relevant construction or civil engineering qualification preferred

• HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or similar (desirable)

• Full UK Driving Licence
