Role Summary

A leading façade specialist contractor is seeking an experienced Façade Designer to join their team in Cardiff.

This role will take responsibility for façade design from pre-construction through to construction, ensuring designs align with the architect’s intent while meeting the technical requirements of the project.

You will play a key role within the project team, collaborating closely with internal departments, clients, and manufacturers to deliver compliant and buildable façade solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead façade design from pre-construction through to project completion

• Produce detailed design drawings and specifications for façade systems

• Develop 2D and 3D models, sketches, and technical drawings to illustrate design concepts and installation details

• Create fabrication drawings for the procurement and manufacturing process

• Compile project handover documentation including O&M manuals

• Liaise with manufacturers and project teams to ensure correct distribution of documentation

• Conduct design risk assessments in collaboration with the project team

• Attend design meetings, workshops, and site visits to review progress and resolve design challenges

• Work closely with project engineers to ensure structural calculations and engineering requirements are satisfied

• Ensure all façade designs comply with building regulations, industry standards, and relevant guidelines

Requirements

• Experience working as a Façade Designer / Façade Engineer / Architectural Designer within the façade or curtain walling sector

• Strong experience producing technical drawings and façade detailing

• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit (or similar design software)

• Knowledge of façade systems including curtain walling, cladding, glazing, and rainscreen systems

• Understanding of UK building regulations and façade design standards

• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with project teams

Desirable

• Experience working on commercial, residential or mixed-use developments

• Experience producing fabrication drawings

• Familiarity with BIM environments
