Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Heating Systems Engineer / Mechanical Building Services Engineer to oversee the design, installation and delivery of commercial heating and mechanical building services projects.

The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in mechanical heating systems, with experience managing projects from initial design through to installation, commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical heating and building services systems, including boilers, heat pumps, HVAC plant and associated pipework.

• Carry out heat load calculations, equipment sizing and review technical drawings and specifications.

• Manage mechanical projects, ensuring works are completed on time, within budget and to specification.

• Oversee on-site installations, coordinating mechanical contractors and subcontractors.

• Liaise with clients, consultants and other trades throughout the project.

• Ensure installations comply with relevant building regulations, health and safety requirements and industry standards.

• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide engineering support on site.

• Oversee system testing, commissioning and final project handover.

• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers where required.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Building Services Engineer, Mechanical Heating Systems Engineer or similar.

• Strong knowledge of commercial heating systems, HVAC, boilers, pumps, heat exchangers and associated pipework.

• Experience with mechanical system design, installation and commissioning.

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications.

• Previous experience managing mechanical projects and coordinating site teams.

• Good understanding of UK building regulations and health and safety requirements.

• Relevant mechanical engineering or building services qualifications.

• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

• Experience with commercial plant rooms and heating distribution systems.

• Knowledge of energy-efficient heating technologies and BMS controls.

• Experience supervising junior engineers.
